Word It Out is a Web 2.0 drawing tool. Teachers can use this to create a word splash for students as a pre – reading strategy before learning about a new topic. Students can also create their own word cloud and share them with the class. According to Tierney & Readence (2005), “Word maps provide students with a procedure for independently studying content area vocabulary” (p.203)
